An independent pathologist carried out an autopsy on Michael Jackson just hours after the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office released his body to his family.
In an unofficial investigation, the pathologist can rush toxicology reports through a laboratory and doesn’t have to worry about maintaining a pristine chain of evidence that will hold up in court. But the autopsy will give MJ’s family the answers they desire without the agony of waiting up to eight weeks.

Enjoying a day off work, Guy Ritchie was seen arriving back with his sons, 8-year-old Rocco and three-year-old David, after a helicopter ride with lady friend Dijana Jenkins (the wife of millionaire bank executive Roger Jenkins) in London today (June 28).
The British director met Madonna’s adopted Malawian daughter Mercy James over the weekend and it appears the encounter has greatly improved relations between the exes.
A friend tells the Daily Mail: “He met her at Madonna’s house and bonded with her immediately. He has nicknamed her Koala, as she has this habit of clinging to people and not wanting to let go.”
Meanwhile, Guy will reportedly have custody of the three other children he and Madonna raised while she embarks on a European tour next month.
A source adds that Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s daughter from a previous relationship, has been instrumental in improving relations between them.
The insider adds: “Lourdes really misses Guy. She is old enough to read the papers, and she hated the fact that they were having a go at each other in the press. She told them to stop it. Since then Madonna has been making a real effort.”

New details about the last days of Michael Jackson’s life have emerged, including the fact that he was overwhelmed by a promise to do 50 concerts in London, in which he knew he would not be able to perform.According to a segment of the book The Final Years Of Michael Jackson, by Ian Halperin, which was quoted in The Daily Mail, Jackson had originally agreed to do 10 shows, after being heavily pushed by his camp. Those ten shows quickly became fifty, a number decided and agreed by Michael’s spokesperson, Dr Tohme Tohme, a Lebanese business man who has worked for Michael over the last few years.
Michael became increasingly upset by the promise. With his health declining rapidly he knew he would be unable to perform in so many concerts in the O2 arena. He had a worsening lung condition that made him unable to sing (lip syncing his entire set was planned), he was losing dramatic amounts of weight, and he could no longer dance.
But he was also over hundreds of millions of dollars in debt, and desperate to reclaim his title of the King of Pop. He was also terrified to disappointing his fans, who had stood by him through his many problems.
Would he have been able to perform any of the promised shows? Or was it a mental breakdown, added to his constant abuse of prescription drugs, and various health problems that ultimately led to his death? Even the autopsy is unlikely to provide all the answers.

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford repeatedly asked his wife’s permission to visit his lover, Maria Belen Chapur, in the months after she discovered his affair.
“I said absolutely not. It’s one thing to forgive adultery; it’s another thing to condone it,” Jenny Sanford said in her first comments on the affair.
Jenny said that when Mark Sanford, inexplicably went off the grid last week, she hoped he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail, as his staff claimed at first.
That he had dared go to Argentina to see his mistress left her stunned.
“He was told in no uncertain terms not to see her,” she said. “I was hoping he was on the Appalachian Trail. But I was not worried about his safety.”
“I was hoping he was doing some real soul searching somewhere and devastated to find out it was Argentina [with Maria Belen Chapur]. It’s tragic.”
The Sanfords had separated about two weeks ago. Mark Sanford told the family that he wanted some time away to work on writing a book and “clear his head.”
The S.C. First Lady said, “I had every hope he was not going to see her.”
“You would think that a father who didn’t have contact with his children, if he wanted those children, he would toe the line a little bit,” she said.
Mark Sanford returned Wednesday to end nearly four days of speculation over his whereabouts, publicly confess his cheating and emotionally apologize.
Jenny Sanford, a Georgetown-educated, former Wall Street vice president, did not stand next to her husband Wednesday during his public confession.
She said she discovered her husband’s affair with Maria Belen Chapur early this year after coming across a copy of a letter to her in one of his files.
He had asked her to find some financial information – not an unusual request considering her heavy involvement in his career. Jenny Sanford would not comment on what was in the letter except to say “enough to figure out an affair was going on.”
Jenny felt “shocked and obviously deeply hurt. I didn’t think he had it in him,” she said. “It’s hard to find out your husband is not who you thought he was.”
The first lady said she confronted Mark Sanford immediately, and he agreed to end the affair. She said she wasn’t sure Friday whether he had done so.
“I guess that’s what we will have to see. I believe he has,” she said.
“But he was down there for five days. I saw him yesterday and he is not staying here. We’ll just see what kind of spirit of reconciliation he has himself.”
The governor declined to discuss details of the letter.
“This goes into the personal zone,” he said. “I’d simply say that Jenny has been magnanimous and gracious as a wonderful Christian woman in this process.”
Jenny Sanford, crying, said the couple have been to counseling.
“When I found out in January, we both indicated a willingness to continue working on the marriage, but there’s not room for three people in a marriage,” she said.
“I’ve done everything in my power possibly to ..read more
That didn’t take long.
Just days after her split with Nick Lachey, Vanessa Minnillo has reportedly moved, at least for a few hours on Saturday night.
According to sources at Radar Online, the former MTV VJ made out with with actor Topher Grace at Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s Los Angeles home over the weekend.
MacFarlane was hosting a party that included an outdoor casino, around which Minnillo and Grace were spotted flirting, whispering to one another and exchanging phone numbers.
From Nick Lachey to Topher Grace: Upgrade or downgrade for Vanessa Minnillo?
“Before long they were on the dance floor and putting the ‘dirty’ in dirty dancing,” a witty witness said. “Vanessa took off her shoes and held them in one hand, wrapping her other arm around Topher’s neck and the next thing we knew she was kissing him on the neck! They [later] started making out right on the dance floor!”
Around 1:30 a.m. the pair left the party… together!
Somewhere, Lachey is penning the lyrics to his latest soul-crushing ballad. Sorry, dude.
