With her career now in limbo, her romance with Romo a historical record and the unenviable trauma of losing her dog, friends close to Jessica Simpson are afraid the sad star may soon crack from the strain.
“Daisy was her baby,” one friend told People. “It’s going to put her into the worst place ever.” But another source was more hopeful, “She’s really upset, but she’s not spiraling out of control,” they said sagely. “It’s like losing a family member, but she’s focusing on work and her family and friends.”
Daisy was a gift from ex-husband, Nick Lachey in 2004, and the caramel-shaded canine soon shared a deep bond. Last week, a coyote snatched Daisy from right in front of a mortified Jessica, and despite rewards and posters she’s not been seen since.
And Jessica is said to be taking this hard.
“She won’t leave her parents’ house,” says a friend. “Whenever things went wrong for Jess, she reached for Daisy. She was Jessie’s security blanket.” they told the reporters.
But life is not all dark – On Saturday her friend and stylist, Kevin Paves, took Jess to Encino for drinks to try and revive her, but without much success; “She wasn’t smiling much,” says a witness. “The wine relaxed her a bit, but it was still pretty clear she was having a bad week.”
Friends close to the star – of whom there are few, Jessie doesn’t let too many people get close – say that Daisy was one of the most pampered pets in the whole showbiz realm; Jessica fed her on steak – never dog food – threw parties for Daisy’s birthdays and even fired assistants if Daisy disliked them; “Daisy ran the house,” the friend recalls. “If she didn’t like you, you were gone.”
Another close source seems inclined to agree, “Jessica has a very small inner circle,” they explained. “But Daisy gave her unconditional love, and unlike most of the men in her life, Daisy never betrayed her.”
And there is one thread that emerges quite often when Jessie’s friends give reviews. “Jessica is very needy and clingy,” says the pal. “She is sweet…but she hates to be alone. She smothers people – that’s what happened with Tony. Daisy was exactly what Jessica needed. It’s been a tough year and that dog was her life.”
And if Jess would put half the work into singing that she’s blown on exploiting the kidnap like this, she might have a life truly worthy of news…
The Emmy’s and their countless – and endless – afterglow parties threw countless stars into the orbit of people they’d gladly pay to avoid, but in one case it seems the impact was friendly…
At the HBO post-Emmy party in West Hollywood on Sunday, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star, Jason Segel was spied locking lips with ‘Big Love’ cast member, Chloë Sevigny.
The pair [couple?] were in a dark corner, away from the lights, the crowds and even [gasp!] the free bar, and were quite clearly enjoying this unseen embrace. But once they saw that their solo was over, the two ended their clinch and rejoined the soirée.
E-Online says it’s not yet fully clear if the two shared a ride home [or even to whose home they went,] but they left together, soon after their secret smooch was disturbed.
And just to add sauce, both actor’s reps have assumed vows of silence and are refusing to comment.

In further news of his ongoing quest to finally form his own solar eclipse, it seems Kevin Federline has no concerns whatsoever about his expanding waistline.
“He doesn’t care,” his ex-girlfriend, Shar Jackson told Us magazine at a post-Emmy party on Sunday. “The beautiful thing is that he couldn’t care less.” She told reporters that the 31-year-old dancer and wannabe-rapper is now doing “good.” after his bitter and dragged-out divorce from Ms. Spears.
And while Brit is now busy with her worldwide ‘Circus’ tour, Jackson says Kev’s been playing nanny to the former couple’s two sons, Sean Preston, aged 4, and 3-year old Jayden James.
Shar also told the reporters she’s now proud of Britney, despite the fact that Fatter-line began dating Spears while Jackson was still pregnant with Kaleb – the the 5-year old brother to 7-year old Kori – the two children Kevin had created with her.
“He calls our two kids all the time,” she told the scribes. “They have long phone conversations and I have to tell them, ‘Okay, that’s good. Now hang up the phone – we have stuff to do.’”
Kev being so easy about becoming a porker is no big surprise – As we reported before, the man’s now in motion, creating a reality show about him losing weight. And it’s scored him some pretty big bucks.

We all know Hollywood has a fetish for sequels, but this is just getting bizarre:
A full three-months before the first film even opens, Warner Brothers are already so in love with the content, they have ordered a sequel – whether we even want one or not.
The first movie, ‘Holmes’ is a re-telling of the life of that timeless detective, played with his usual gusto by Robert Downey Jr. And the role of his invaluable aid, Dr. Watson has been left in the care of the splendid Jude Law.
In the newly announced second chapter, the pair will be joined by no less than Brad Pitt as the criminal genius, and Holmes’ mortal enemy, Professor James Moriarty. No deal has been signed yet, but he looks pretty sure.
As you might expect, even the prospect of Brad in a movie causes hundreds of blogs to erupt with false rumors, and this film has been no exception. One rumor insisted he can also be seen in Holmes, chapter one – but those involved with production have told the Hollywood Reporter that the character is just shown in shadow and no face can be seen – So it’s clearly not him.
Debuted in clip-form at ComicCon, the first movie [directed by Madonna's ex-hubby, Guy Ritchie,] will open at Christmas and Warners have already hijacked Kieran and Michele Mulroney, who were busy crafting their upcoming “Justice League: Mortal” to create the second ‘Holmes’ story that would open in March.
And good news for those fans of Robert: Warners are known to be keen to develop ‘Holmes’ as a franchise, due to its worldwide appeal and the rich source material. And that will give Robert far more time on the screen, and some welcome time-off from his ‘Iron Man’ suit.
The story, which was created by Warner’s writers, not based on the books, adds Rachel McAdams as Holmes’ love interest, and the great detective’s first case will begin to unravel when the movie opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
In documents that have just been unsealed regarding the premature death of actress and model, Anna Nicole Smith back in 2007, it seems those responsible for prescribing the pills that eventually killed her were well aware of the risks.
The Huffington Post is reporting that a Los Angeles pharmacist warned Ms. Smith’s internist that the drugs they were prescribing for the 39-year old star were “pharmaceutical suicide,” according to the evidence that has now emerged.
The papers, released as part of an investigation into who is truly to blame for her untimely death, confirm that Anna Nicole’s doctor, Khristine Eroshevich and her internist, Sandeep Kapoor were warned by no less than three different pharmacists about the mixture of drugs, and the risks such a blend would inflict on their patient – yet nothing was done.
The two physicians, together with Howard K. Stern, who was both Anna’s boyfriend and her Attorney, all pleaded not guilty in May to conspiring to illegally supply controlled substances. A preliminary hearing is now scheduled for early next month and prosecutors have confirmed they plan to call both Anna’s bodyguard and Larry Birkhead, the father of Anna’s beloved daughter, Dannielynn, as State witnesses to further their case.
The papers on which this legal action will largely depend reveal that Anna’s first request for the drugs occurred on September 15th of 2006 – five days after her son, Daniel died. The order was for two types of sedative, 300 tablets of methadone, a muscle relaxant, an anti-inflammatory drug and four bottles of a very strong painkiller.
These same papers also prove that the Doctors who approved and supplied such a lethal concoction also breached their professional ethics by having sex with their patient. Attorneys for the physicians have not, so far returned calls to confirm this or comment, but the proof is contained in these papers, so the case seems quite clear.
Anna died, alone and despairing in room 607 of the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida on February 8th, 2007.

Spotted out shopping together at Williams & Sonoma together just yesterday (September 21), Khloe Kardashian has gotten her mom’s approval to marrying boyfriend Lamar Odom after just one month of dating because she feels it is “romantic.”
“You know, that’s how Bruce [Jenner] and I met,” Kris Jenner told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday. “We met, and we were married four months later. Isn’t that romantic?”
Adding on about her own marriage, Kris says, “I just go by what I feel. If you meet somebody, you just know.”
When asked about an engagement ring, Khloe’s mom tells, “Not around here. I’ve been looking. If she got a ring, and she’s holding go out on me, I want one too.”
Jenner also joked when Seacrest asked if Bruce, Khloe’s stepfather, will be giving Khloe away at the ceremony, which takes place Sunday night at the LA-area home of music manager Irving Azoff.
“He’ll give her away,” she said. “He’ll send her right back down to San Diego to be with my mom.”
Kardashian, 25, and Odom, 29, will be tying the knot this coming Sunday.
Enjoying a little quality time together, Lauren Conrad and Lauren “Lo” Bosworth were spotted out at La Scala in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon (September 21).

Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon may be happily ever after now, but Nick revealed that he had to wait a long time for his dream girl to come into the picture.
The “Glitter” diva dished, “He likes to say that he spoke it into existence. He told everybody who he thought might know me, ‘Tell your girl Mariah that I want to talk to her.’ All this stuff. I didn’t know him…but I didn’t know what to believe.”
Nick finally got his wish at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards after Mariah received an award for “We Belong Together,” and Nick insisted that he give the singer her award.
“He told me that he said to the people that were doing the show, that he wouldn’t do it, unless he could present my award to me,” she explains. “I said, ‘Thank you for all the nice things that you’ve been saying about me.’ And he said ‘I meant everything — give me a chance.’ And then I didn’t see him again for two years.”
But bad timing was to blame for the delay. Mariah says that her bodyguards quickly led her on and Nick did not receive a number. The couple was finally brought back together when Mariah was creating a video.
“I always remembered the moment,” tells Mariah. “We were doing a video and there was going to be a love interest in it. And we were thinking of all different actors and people — we wanted it to look authentic. And I said, ‘Oh, what about Nick Cannon?’ ”
