In news you’d have needed to live in a cave not to have already seen coming, TLC has announced that Jon and Kate Gosselin will no longer be co-stars on their still-sinking show.
The cable channel announced this morning that from November 2nd, Jon would no longer appear on the show, and the show itself would acquire a new, shortened name – ‘Kate Plus 8.’
“Given Jon’s recent antics, there was no way the show could continue to portray him as a doting Dad,“ an insider told People. ”Not while all this other crap was going on.”
From its premiere on April 16th of 2007, the kid-centric show scored quite decent ratings, but these really improved once the marriage went bad. The season five premiere, in which Jon and Kate announced their divorce pulled 9.8-million viewers – making it the highest rated show on TV that night.
Since then the ratings have quite simply imploded: After six-weeks of re-runs, only 4.2-million watched on August 7. And well less than 2-million tuned in last week.
But Kate, it would seem, could hardly care less; Having just completed a guest spot on ‘The View,’ while Elizabeth Hasselbeck was on maternity leave, the 34-year old multiple-mom also taped a chat-show pilot in Manhattan this weekend in which she schmoozed with ‘Food Network’ fixture, Paula Deen.
If it makes it to air, the show – which is planned to be all about moms – will also co-star stand-up comedian, Judy Gold.
No news on an debut or channel as yet, but if this guaranteed train-wreck even makes it that far, we’ll let you know.
For his legion of fans it’s still hard to believe he is gone, but in one way at least Patrick Swayze is still able to tell his own tale.
The actor, who died of Pancreatic Cancer two weeks ago, is now back in audio, as his autobiography, ‘Time of My Life,’ is released on CD by Simon & Schuster today.
Written at his New Mexico home in June of this year, the original memoir, of which the new audio book is a verbatim copy, shows the 57-year old Texas-born actor taking charge of his undeserved fate.
Patrick bravely relates how being told in January of 2008 that his life expectancy was a matter of weeks drove him close to despair, “A lot of things go through your head when you get a death sentence, starting with: ‘Why me?’ ” he explains in People’s review.
With no idea what he’d done to incur such a fate, Swayze decided to fight back – and hard; “I was not ready to go, so I said to my doctors, ‘Show me where the enemy is and I’ll fight them.’ “
What followed, he says, was “the most challenging, eye-opening battle I’ve ever had.”
Apart from some truly dark days with the cancer, Patrick also remembers life’s better times…Such as that hot scene in ‘Ghost,’ “We really made up the scene as we went along,” he says. “It was pretty sexy playing in all that clay; All we had to do was go with it…Demi was much warmer than in the other scenes we’d been in together.”
True to his roots, Patrick remained a fighter right up to the end; Just two months before losing his battle he was still looking for new roles he could play; “Whenever someone asks me what my legacy is, I say the same thing,” he recalls. “I’m not finished yet.”
Patrick slipped from this world on September 14th. His wife, of 34-years, Lisa Niemi, who was first smitten by Patrick when she was only 15, has so far made no statement regarding her loss.
In proof that Katherine Heigl may have started a trend, another TV celeb has announced an adoption…
Jon Cryer, co-star of the CBS sit-com, ‘Two and a Half Men’ and his wife, Lisa Joyner have debuted their newest co-star, a six-week old girl they call Daisy.
Jon, 44, had mentioned his ‘baby girl’ in his ‘Best Supporting Actor’ acceptance at the Emmy’s on September 20, but did not explain what he meant…until now.
Jon and his wife, Lisa, an NBC entertainment reporter, were married on June 16, 2007, but this is their first child together; Jon also has a 9-year old son, Charles, from his first marriage to ‘CSI-Miami’ actress, Sarah Trigger, which ended in 2004.
He was granted custody in May after Sarah was arrested for felony child neglect.
In what may be a clear warning of Khloe Kardashian’s next brush with the press, Limp Bizkit singer, Fred Durst has announced that he and his wife of three months are getting divorced.
Fred, 39, met his soon-to-be-ex, Esther Nazarov in April and they tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 16. And Us magazine say the [un]happy couple have now decided to split.
“I will confirm that Esther and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Fred tweeted on Monday, “And we both thank you for your support.” Another tweet reads, “We remain very positive and wish only the best for each other.”
Friends say the tension in their unsettled marriage came to a boil in August, during a month-long retreat in the mountains. Fred was hard at work on an album and his tweets showed something had changed, “We cannot go back and start a new beginning,” he posted, “But we can start today and make a new ending.”
Divorce arrangements are so far unknown, but let’s hope his children don’t get too bruised – Fred so far has two: Adriana May, who was born June 3, 1990 by then-wife, Rachel Tergesen; and a son, Dallas, who made his debut on August 30th 2001 after a brief and equally doomed liaison with fellow musician, Jennifer Thayer.
While tickets to their show are hotter than the neon which surrounds their own theater, it seems Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman are still attracting the usual dim-bulbs.
The BBC reports that the two actors stopped a Broadway preview of their play, the Keith Huff drama, ‘A Steady Rain’ in the midst of a scene because one audience member did not bother to silence their cellphone, and the ringing was audible right through the house.
Secretly filmed footage, seen here, shows Hugh telling the offender to answer the call and thus give them some peace. “We can wait,” he assures them. “Don’t be embarrassed – just grab it.”
In the play, Australia-born Jackman [who'll be 41 on October 12,] and his co-star, Daniel Craig, 40, play childhood friends who grow up to be Chicago policemen and suffer traumatic life changes after a sequence of awful events.
And the two actors are by no means the first to encounter such self-absorbed ignorance; Harry Potter star, Richard Griffiths made headlines in Britain in 2004 when he had an audience member literally thrown out of the National Theatre after his phone repeatedly rang during Griffiths’ performance in ‘The History Boys.’
Luckily for the perpetrator of this unthinking insult, both Craig and Jackman remained entirely in character during the interruption, and the play continued one silence returned.
The show officially opens this week and runs at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on West 45th street until December 6th.
The New York City Medical Examiner has just released the cause of death (via TMZ) for Adam Goldstein — DJ AM, “acute intoxication” due to the combined effects of cocaine, oxycodone, hydrocodone (Vicodin), Ativan, Klonopin, Xaxax, Benadryl and Levamisole (a drug used to cut cocaine with). Strangely the manner of death is listed as “accident” (substance abuse) but taking a cocktail like that is bound to kill you sooner than later.
NYPD detectives have previously confirmed the New York club star had admitted to friends that he suffered a relapse, and had promised he would check into rehab the very same day that the drugs had taken his life. Goldstein – had been not acting like himself for weeks and missing appointments, and this worried both his manager and his rehab sponsor so much, they flew across county to have a showdown. When the pair arrived at Adam’s apartment early Thursday, he refused to see his manager. But his sponsor for rehab was allowed to come in. Then, right in front of the guy who had saved him, Goldstein smoked up a crack pipe and also took pills. Before the two left, Adam promised he’d check into rehab the following night, once he’d done an important gig at ‘The Palms’ in Las Vegas. But he missed the flight and didn’t answer his phones – and that’s when his friends called the cops. But when police gained entry to Adam’s upscale apartment they were already too late.
Adam was almost killed in a plane crash last year, and such drugs were his way of enduring the endless cross-country flying that his fame now required. Friends say he was constantly begging Doctors to give him more, but cops also found pills to treat allergies and stomach upsets. And of them all, only one bottle was properly labeled – An anti-diarrhea drug Adam got on prescription.
Actors Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy have gotten married, in a low-key wedding in France earlier this month, according to Life & Style. Claire, 30, and Hugh, 34, met over two years ago on the set of Evening in Newport, R.I. The pair announced their engagement in February.
Danes previously dated her Stage Beauty and Princess Mononoke co-star Billy Crudup, which generated negative publicity due to rumors that their relationship caused the end of Crudup’s relationship to then-pregnant Mary-Louise Parker. Both denied that they were involved prior to the end of Crudup’s relationship with Parker.I mention this because Danes’s relationship with Crudup ended amid rumors of an affair by Danes with Hugh Dancy, her co-star in Evening. Danes confirmed on the June 27, 2007 episode of Late Show with David Letterman that she is dating Dancy. Dancy stated in a recent interview to Marie Claire magazine, “I met her then, but we didn’t start dating until filming finished.

Dealing with relationship woes, Emmy Rossum was spotted arriving at Sunset Medical Tower in Los Angeles on Tuesday (September 29).
The outing comes just a day after it was revealed that the “Mystic River” actress’ husband, Justin Siegel, filed documents for the dissolution of their marriage, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split.
Meanwhile, Miss Rossum has since moved on in the relationship department – as she’s been dating Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz since August
Duritz even Twittered about his new lady, writing, “I personally think @EmmyRossum is just about the coolest chick I’ve ever met.”
With fans awaiting the fifth season premiere of “The Hills” tonight – the claws are out when it comes to the reality show’s stars.
Of them, Stephanie Pratt isn’t afraid to talk about the love triangle drama that has been all over between Cavallari and Audrina Patridge and Justin Bobby – saying that it “sucks,” but it will make for a great TV.
“In the first episode, Kristin goes off on Audrina and I, and we form the ‘I hate you, Kristin’ alliance,” Pratt spills.
“[Justin and Kristin are] both going to get what they ask for,” she says. “They’re both going to mess with each other and get hurt. Justin’s going to play her like he did Audrina, and Kristin’s got it coming for her.”
Continuing on, Steph adds, “People always ask if I watch the show, and for the last couple seasons, there are episodes I don’t want to watch, but this season, I am watching every single one of them!”
